From a very young age, I found comfort in baking cakes, biscuits and other favourites from my grans old recipe book after school and on weekends. Little did i know that this childhood hobby would later become my passion and a career.
I completed a psychology degree and an e marketing course and went on to work at a food magazine called avocado.
Sadly the magazine closed down in 2011 but I was left with an awakened passion for food. And that’s when Sugarbear was born.
I did a wedding cake course with the South African Wedding School in 2012 so I’m qualified in wedding cake techniques such as piping art, sugar roses and brush embroidery.
I also attended a three month pastry course in New York and returned with an obsession with learning more. I’ve pledged to attend as many different cake related classes and courses as possible, locally and abroad (like I need an excuse to travel!!)
So here I am, creating my own style of cake baking and decorating, hoping that you’ll all enjoy eating my cakes as much as I enjoy making them for you!
